What the hell is a Bloke?

Good question....a bloke is a person that is not of the female kind, that is a male. The term is one that was derived from the Australian term "one who drinks beer". One of the online dictionaries definition is: a fellow, a man. Well kind of right. If you stand up to take a leak, you are a bloke.

How should I spend the day?

However YOU like. Sit in front of the TV in just your undies, get together with a bunch of other Top Blokes and celebrate together. Why not add a bit of Aussie flavour and have a BBQ with more meat than you can possibly eat, drink some Aussie beer and have more in the esky than you can possibly drink, go to the races and spend more money than you will possibly earn in year, go to the beach and get burnt to a crisp. Do whatever you want to do, it is YOUR day after all. You don't need to be with anyone else, but it makes it heaps more fun if you are with other Top Blokes......

Here is a top idea. If you are live near the Hunter Valley in NSW, why not attend the Bitter and Twisted beer festival. It is on the same weekend as Top Bloke Day and what better way to celebrate than at a bloody BEER festival !!!!

How do I get around the misses getting the strop on?

That's a hard one.....she is likely to be upset that you are out "enjoying" yourself and she is supposedly not. Well, tell her that this is bigger than you first thought and now you can't get out of it. This is something that has been around for years, it has history AND tradition. If you miss it, you have to wait another year...far too long.

Why can't women have their own day like "Top Chicks Day?"

Now that would be all fine and well but think about it, would it EVER get off the ground? Use this comparision:

A mate rings you to invite you to a BBQ this weekend. You ask "What do I need to bring?". He answers "Bring your own meat and your own grog". One other question from you "What time?". He replies "2 O'Clock". Fine you think, YOU have all the info YOU need. You then feel quite proud of yourself that you have arranged with your mate a nice day at his place....then you tell the missus....She asks "Do we need to bring any salad? What salad should I bring? Who else will be there? Is it formal, what is everyone wearing? What time will it go till?....." 

And THAT is why "Top Chicks Day" would not get off the ground. To damn complicated. 

Why is on the first Saturday in November?

If we go back to the ancient origins of Top Bloke Day (2001) it was originally celebrated on the first Sunday in November but that proved a hindrance as most Top Blokes have to work on the Monday. As we all know, work gets in the way of good night out, so I changed it to a Saturday . Hey the Titanic had to sink before they decided it wasn't the unsinkable ship, right???
